The Colony World

Status: CANON (setting), name OPEN

The core fact

This story does not take place on Earth. Greg grows up on a far-future human colony world — broadly Earth-like and habitable, settled long enough that children consider it home.

Texture: rural surface, far-future bones CANON

The region where Greg grows up has a rural, agricultural atmosphere:

  • farmland, streams, small roads
  • local businesses and a tight-knit community
  • children traveling by bicycle
  • agricultural infrastructure

But the setting is unmistakably far future:

  • orbital traffic
  • advanced industrial automation
  • synthetic workers
  • interplanetary logistics
  • colonial infrastructure
  • high technology integrated into ordinary life

Visual / emotional reference: a Smallville-like rural childhood, on another world, hundreds of years in the future.

The contrast is the point — the ordinary and the advanced share the same street. A boy on a peeling red bicycle passes under orbital traffic and thinks nothing of it.
